Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 4, 2026

The short version: MathYap does not collect your information or your child's. There is no account, no sign-up, and nothing in the app sends data to us.

MathYap is made by John Gladden, Marlton, New Jersey. This policy covers the MathYap app for iPhone and iPad.

Your child's voice

MathYap uses the microphone to hear your child's answer. Speech is turned into text on the device using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The app never records audio, never saves it, and never sends it anywhere. When the app is not listening for an answer, the microphone is off.

What the app stores

Everything MathYap keeps, such as kids' names, practice history, coins, and settings, is stored only on your device. We can't see it and we don't have a copy. If you delete the app, it's gone.

The app also keeps the date your free week started on the device, so the free week doesn't restart if the app is reinstalled. That date stays on the device too.

Purchases

MathYap Family is a subscription sold through Apple. Apple handles payment and keeps the purchase records. We receive no payment details, names, or addresses. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings.

Notifications

If a parent turns on reminders, the app schedules them on the device. They contain only the child's first name and practice counts. Nothing is sent to a server. Reminders are off until a parent turns them on.

Children

MathYap is made for children. It contains no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no links out of the app on the child's side, and nothing for a child to buy. Purchases and outside links sit behind a parental gate.

Third parties

MathYap contains no third-party code, analytics, or advertising. The only outside service it talks to is Apple, for purchases.

This website

mathyap.com uses no cookies, no analytics, and no tracking. The fonts are served from this site, not from an outside service.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date.
